Here's a breif description of the X-Men.
____________________________________________________________________________________
X-Mansion
Located at 1407 Graymalkin Lane, just outside of Salem Center, Westchester County, New York, the original ancestral Xavier estate was built in the late 1700's. Currently owned by Charles Francis Xavier, this sprawling mansion was erected near Breakstone lake and serves as a school, as well as the secret headquarters of the outlaw band of mutants known as the X-Men.

The estate was originally named The Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters, but changed its name to The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning with the opening of a new school in Snow Valley, Massachusetts. Since the recent closing of the Massachusetts Academy, the original name was restored, although due to the reconstruction of the Mansion the name has once more been changed to The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.

The Mansion was destroyed by a brainwashed Franklin Richards, a student at Xavier's. During its reconstruction, the Mansion took on a bold new appearance; the overall Mansion is in the shape of an "X", while it boasts two separate dorm buildings and a maze.
Although the outside looks modern, the inside has retained its 1700's style decor with oak-paneled walls and wooden floors. The mansion still houses its state of the art facilities for the education, training and protection of mutants.

The Story of X-Men
as in the Marvel Universe forum

A noble ambition such as to protect humanity from evil mutants and safeguarding innocent mutants from human oppression is one to be upheld by many. These ideals were those of Professor Charles Xavier, one of the most power telepathy in the World. With this strong belief in mind, the Professor set up a school where young mutants will learn to be accepted by others and themselves and also learn to their control and use their powers for the betterment of all mankind. In secrecy though, the Professor had initiated another project of his, one which involves a group of highly trained student of his. This group of mutants formed the X-Men, a superhero alliance which existed to protect mankind from evil mutants and also to protect innocent mutants from human oppression.

The X-Men had faced many dangers throughout the past years and they managed to survive through evil the most difficult of them all. As such, the story of the X-men remained to be seen. The prospect of the team will be in the hands of the new mutants.

^That can be found in the Alliances and Headquarters Topic Under Rules and Guildlines.^

In saying this Charles Xavier always believed in the preservation of life even in the most difficult of situations. He also saw traits as gifts and not weapons, and they should be used for the betterment of all mankind. Thats why he started the "School for gifted youngsters" so that all Mutants could realize who they were as a person, and not what the public deemed them as. The X-Men were formed to protect all man and mutantkind but also to show the public that not mutants were evil, and that their traits could be used for good. But the X-Men and the School for Gifted Youngsters arn't just for Mutants they are a haven for those who are opperssed and in need of guidance.

*All that said, if you are in the X-men or looking to join please post your character what lead them to want to join the X-Men, the history of how you joined the X-men, and what your profession is in the school.
